Tony Robbins is losing his voice.
For those of you who don’t know him, Tony is a highly acclaimed motivational speaker. I believe he is losing his voice for a fantastic reason. He has taken his fiery passion for inspiring others and joyfully cheered so many people on to a better life that he is literally using his voice up!
I am gradually losing my voice too. The doctor’s say I am hoarse because my thyroid gland is enlarged and pressing on my trachea. I know this to be true but I believe the real problem is that I have not pursued my own passion for motivational speaking in the way I had always dreamed of doing. The hoarseness is merely a symbol of my frustration with myself for not letting my voice be heard.
Tony may have used his voice too much.
I’ve used mine too little.
That’s going to change. I have two big speaking presentations scheduled in the fall and I know in my heart that, by then, I’ll be ready.
We each have a unique voice in the world. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about speaking. It is whatever gifts we have to share. What is it that you are passionate about? Let your voice be heard today. Use it until you’ve used it up!
You and the world will be better for it.
Let your spirit soar!

Interesting…Tony’s voice is fiery filled with passion about his message. He has worked so hard trying to inspire others. On a symbolic level he is speaking with too much fire/heat. Fire can be nice and soothing to warm, but when out of control, it is not so pleasant and burns. Maybe the universe is asking him to step down for some reason. He probably would of kept going on speaking, if not for loosing his voice. But, maybe he is meant to make a change or shift in his life, and loosing his voice is a way to get his attention. Usually when there is a lot of fire in the voice, it is sharp and high pitched.
In practice, I have seen a lot of patients with throat issues: lumps, cysts, tumors, thick mucus, scratch and itchy throat, and hoarseness in the throat are symptoms of stagnation leading to further imbalance. In life, sometimes we swallow what we really want to say, and it stagnates and accumulates in our throat and later in the stomach (fire, which is related anger and frustration leads to acid or ulcers in the stomach, due to swallow our fiery emotions and not speaking up).
The first signs of throat imbalance is qi stagnation such as a scratchy or itchy throat, then leading to clear fluid, then thicker mucus that is either white (symptom of cold and coagulation of holding down or emotions) or yellow (heated mucus, usually indicating anger and frustration swallowed). At first you hold down emotions and it can be cold, but then it will turn into heat. On some level the heat helps to move the cold and get the emotions up and out. Fire moves in an upward flow. So holding down emotions can eventually create fire to get them to move. But, if you keep swallowing the hot fiery emotions or not speak up, it can lead to acid in the stomach and ulcers (heated undigested emotions swallowed and not processed). Heat fires up the mucus, and it eventually turns in to plum pitt qi (qi that starts to get heavier and thicker), a cyst, tumor in the throat area. It is an accumulation of many years of not speaking up and sharing your truths or voice. The throat represents symbolically speaking the soul’s truth…our authenticity, our truth. We are all unique and beautiful and have a message to share with the world. By loving ourselves and having the courage to stand up and speak our truth, we make space for others to do so too.
much peace to you,
