Archive for November, 2013

For the past few days, I have been imagining that Jesus is right beside me, guiding me in everything I do. He sits next to me in my car, he stands beside me during conversations, etc. Although I’ve learned that we are One, I still find it helpful to think of him as “with” me. This morning at my Tai Chi class I had a powerful demonstration that he is. During our five minute break, I was so peaceful that I just sat on one of the chairs at the edge of the room and meditated. An Asian woman whom I had never spoken to before sat down next to me and rested her arm on the back of my chair, which I thought was a little unusual. While meditating, I sensed that Jesus was with me holding my hand. My next thought was that he wouldn’t communicate with me in a way that involved physical touch because that would just reinforce the illusion that I am a body and He is in spirit. Instantly, I heard him correct me in my mind, saying, “Don’t question how I come to you. Simply be joyful that I am here.” Just then, the Asian lady slid her arm down across my back and wrapped her warm hand around my shoulder. She left it there during our entire break. It was so comforting. Then, on the ride home, still in wonder about what happened, I found myself humming a very old tune that I hadn’t thought of in years. When I remembered the lyrics, I had to smile:

     I’ll be loving you always
with a love that’s true always.
     When the things you’ve planned
     need a helping hand,
     I will understand always.

     Always.

Days may not be fair always,
that’s when I’ll be there always.
     Not for just an hour,
     not for just a day,
     not for just a year,
     but always.

Thank you, Jesus.

Let your spirit soar!

Thank you so much for your continued interest in the Spirit Rising blog. I think I would write, even if just for myself, but it is ever so delightful to write for you and to read your kind responses.

Many, many blessings to you as we each celebrate God’s bounty in our own, unique way.

 Happy Thanksgiving.

Clean Slate #23/2013

Image

About a month ago, my very old laptop computer crashed. As I feared, none of the information could be retrieved. Fortunately, my spiritual memoir and a few other items relating to Spirit Rising had been backed up. All my other documents were lost. At first, I couldn’t even remember what the documents were. Gradually, one or more of them would pop into my awareness and I’d think, Oh darn! Then I would start trying to remember what the rest of the documents were. Then I caught myself. Why would I want to torture myself in the present moment with the realization of what I had lost from the past that I couldn’t do anything about now or in the future? Besides, my desktop had been filled with so many things, that I often felt overwhelmed by it anyways. I actually found myself being thankful to have been given a clean slate. It was a good reminder for me to let go of the past, enjoy the present, and trust that, no matter what the future brings, I will be okay.

On the way home from a long weekend with my friend, she asked if I would mind stopping with her to visit her aunt and uncle’s gravesite. Standing on a hill overlooking the gravesites, she said, “Cemeteries are funny. The people who are here, aren’t really here at all.” “No”, I answered. “The tombstones are just symbols in form that help us to feel like we are connecting with their spirit which is really everywhere.”

A few minutes later, I mentioned that I wished we were close enough to stop where my ex-husband is buried because it is an hour’s ride from my home and I don’t get there often. Just as I finished speaking, I turned to see a very large tombstone right behind us with his last name, RICHARDS, prominently carved into it. It was a beautiful confirmation of what we had just said. Spirit is everywhere. We are all connected at all times.

Let your spirit soar!
