I have spoken about synchronicity many, many times over the years; about the coinciding of events that are just too unbelievable to dismiss or ignore. I have even come to expect it at times, but I am still in awe of what happened to me a few days ago. It was a wonderful reminder about how easily things can come to us when we don’t worry about it or think that we have to know how to make something happen.
I was planning on making a new crockpot recipe that called for adding cilantro during the last fifteen minutes of cooking. I went shopping the day before for the ingredients I needed. I discovered that it was $1.29 for a bunch of cilantro. I was hesitant to spend that much on an herb that I wasn’t even sure I would like and that I only needed a very small amount of. I debated for a minute and finally decided not to buy it. I would substitute parsley instead, I thought.
The following morning I put all the ingredients, except the parsley, in the crockpot and set off to visit a friend I hadn’t seen in quite a while. As I stepped through her front door, I could hear her calling to me from the kitchen. “Have you ever used cilantro?” she asked. I’m making soup today and the recipe calls for cilantro. I had to buy a big bunch and only need a little bit. Would you like to take some home with you?” I nearly fell over. If she had said she had too many potatoes, or eggs, or some other commonly used item, I wouldn’t have blinked. But, cilantro? And just in time to add to my crockpot recipe?
A Course in Miracles says that, “There is no order of difficulties in miracles.” It is our belief that one thing is more difficult than another that keeps us from experiencing miracles all the time. The Course also says that we are One with God and, therefore, one with everything. There is nothing we are missing. What is the difference between the universe bringing me cilantro, or bringing me my son from Wyoming, or a million dollars? There is no difference – except in my mind – in my disbelief.
The next time I think I cannot manifest whatever I want, I hope I remember one word . . .
cilantro.
