I don’t know #23/2014

In my last blog, I introduced this idea: “The very nature of true perception is that it has no limits. It is the opposite of the way you see now.”

A Course in Miracles Workbook lesson number three in A Course in Miracles tells me, “I do not understand anything I see . . .” then, lesson twenty-five says, “I do not know what anything is for.” For someone who thought she had come so far in her spiritual journey, reading those words a few years ago was more than a little upsetting!

In hindsight, I can see that my journey thus far had merely brought me to a state of mind in which I could finally be taught. I used to say to people, “Be open to the possibility that there is something you don’t know (remember), the knowing of which would transform your life.” Well, here was my opportunity! I could put up my defenses and pretend to be the wise one, or I could humble myself and take the first step toward becoming a true student of God. I could say, “I don’t know.”

It turns out that there was more truth in those three words than anything else I had ever said. They opened the door to teachings that are helping me see the world in a whole new way. I am remembering the beautiful truth about myself. It’s an ongoing journey, as the ego often puts up resistance. I still seem to have more questions than answers, but inner peace is growing. Love is expanding. Joy, at times, is bubbling up. I may not have all the answers, but being willing to be taught looks a lot more promising right now than thinking I can decide on my own. I think I’ll stick with that.

Is there something that you don’t know?

Let your spirit soar!
